free hand #knitting pattern: your family's hoodie


Here, in British Columbia, we are celebrating Family Day. I'm celebrating by offering you this fast, easy, fun hoodie (bunny hug, kangaroo jacket) that you can knit for every member of your family.

Tips:  I offer this pattern in 9 sizes. That's a lot of information. And, so, this pattern can be confusion. To simplify, print this pattern and highlight all of the information that pertain to the size you'd like to knit.

Finished measurements:
Chest:  32 [36/ 40/ 44/ 48/ 52/ 56/ 60 / 64] inches 
81.28 [91.44/ 101.6/ 111.76/ 121.92/ 132.08/ 142.24/ 152.4/ 162.56] centimeters
(two inches of ease) 5.08 centimeters
Length:  24 [25] inches (tunic length)
 60.96 [63.5] centimeters
Knitting needles:  4.50 mm/US 7 OR size to obtain tension
Two sets of straight and two double pointed needles.
Yarn:  worsted weight 
approximately 1, 050 (1,260 / 1, 470/ 1,680 / 1, 890 / 2,100 / 2,310 / 2,520/ 2,730) yards

Tension:  5 stitches x 8 rows = one inch over Stockinette stitch

seed stitch (over an even number of stitches):
Row 1: knit one, purl one -- continue to end of row.
Row 2: purl one, knit one -- continue to end of row.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for pattern.

seed stitch (over a odd number of stitches):
Row 1:  knit one, purl one -- continue to end of row.
Repeat row 1 for pattern.

Stockinette stitch:
Row 1:  knit – to end of row.
Row 2:  purl – to end of row.
Repeat  rows 1 and 2 for pattern.

Back:
Cast on 80 [90/ 100/ 110/120/ 130/ 140/ 150/ 160]
Work in seed stitch for 3 inches 
7.62 centimeters
Work in Stockinette stitch for 21 [22] inches

 shoulder shaping: 
At the beginning of the next two rows, cast off  15 [20/ 25/ 30/ 35/ 40/ 45/ 50/ 55] stitches
Hood:
Stitches remaining = 50
Work stitches in seed stitch for 14 inches

Cast off using the three needle cast off technique

Front:
