horizontal and vertical stripes

I shared the Spring Garden pattern a few weeks ago. You can find it here. Each Monday since (except for last Monday) I've been sharing ideas on how you can make this pattern yours--adapt it to fit your taste and body type.
Today I'd like to share some ideas on how you can use vertical and horizontal stripes to make this pattern figure flattering.

Look taller with vertical stripes...

This stitch pattern is created by combining Stockinette and seed stitch. I worked 10 stitches of seed stitch and 15 stitches of Stockinette stitch. I invite you to play with the stitches to create your own stitch pattern.

We must, we must increase our bust...

Accomplish this goal by working horizontal stripes at the top half of this sweater. Here's an excellent video that teaches you how to add a new colour--link
I would add a tip on how to maintain your tension when you add the new colour. What I do is knot the ends together. Before sewing the sweater seams untie this knot.
An easier way to add stripes to your sweater is to add variegated yarn. This way you'll only have to change yarns once.
What you do is start working your sweater in a solid colour and then add a variegated yarn.
Remember Spring Garden is worked from the bottom up.
